Bad News For Early Bird Tax Filers as the IRS Delays 2012 Tax Return Accepatance
The early bird gets the worm.
Except this year the early bird will need to WAIT 8 more days until Jan 30,2013 to send in their 2012 taxes to the IRS.
The IRS will not accept electronic tax returns that are filed before this date of January 30.
Why the DELAY?
“Like many Americans, the federal agency was at the mercy of lawmakers debating a fiscal cliff deal. Because that deal was reached in a last-minute fashion, the IRS has had to delay tax season so it can update forms and computer systems to accommodate tax law changes, according to David Stewart, IRS spokesman.
“We had to wait for the tax laws to pass, and then we had to get our systems up and running,” he said.” source
Now this doesn’t mean that you can’t set an appointment to have your tax returns in Suwanee started now.
